Mike Evans has reversed course on his decision to protest the national anthem “as long as Donald Trump is president-elect” and will stand with his Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, opting to find what he calls “more effective ways” to communicate his message.
In a statement released Tuesday to ESPN’s Josina Anderson and the Tampa Bay Times, Evans apologized to the military and anyone else offended by his actions Sunday, when he sat during the national anthem before the Buccaneers’ game against the Chicago Bears.
And his family can notice a Dan Carpenter Authentic Jersey difference in the now-retired Johnson. Besides exuding a high level of charm throughout his Dancing with the Stars season, he has smiled more in three months than he seemed to throughout the last three seasons of his NFL career.
“Since he retired, he’s happier,” said his sister, Elan Johnson.

What’s next for Johnson is unclear. This was his first major foray after retirement besides getting married this past summer and working with his foundation while running his camp.
In the semifinals, Johnson and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, danced a tango to Seven Nation Army, with Johnson in black pants and a black shirt with a red vest. During the dance, he showed his extreme athletic ability with a high kick.
“I have very strong emotions regarding some of the many issues that exist in our society today. I chose to sit as an expression of my frustration towards this year’s election. It was very personal for me, as it was for so many Americans.
